Cartridge Filter Systems for shot blast machines
The demands placed on all units in the production process are constantly increasing. This calls for systems that work reliably, are environmentally and user-friendly and take economic efficiency into account to a high degree.
AGTOS has developed a series of cartridge filter units especially for use in conjunction with shot blast machines, which sets new standards and contributes significantly to process reliability.

Filtration with process safety
The dust generated during the blasting process is extracted in an air stream. It flows through the impact separator, where heavy dust particles are already separated. It then enters the lower filter chamber. This is where the filter cartridges are located. As it flows through the filter cartridges, the dust is removed from the air, which is then cleaned and transported upwards into the clean gas chamber. At the same time, the filter cartridges are cleaned at adjustable intervals by compressed air blasts from the compressed air nozzles arranged above them. The dust particles are detached from the filter walls. They are fed into the funnel below and collected in a metal or paper dust collector. The cleaned air is discharged to the outside through side openings in the upper filter housing. If a filter cartridge is destroyed, additional filter inserts trap the dust as far as possible until the damage is repaired.

Efficiency meets user-friendliness
Easy maintenance
Changing the filter cartridges is often a very time-consuming and hazardous job due to the dust.
The AGTOS designers have taken practical experience into account here. Innovative slide-in units simplify cartridge replacement.
The cartridges are pulled out of the filter system and can be replaced outside in a clean environment. Nevertheless, the cartridges are positioned precisely and always installed with the correct contact pressure.
Special filter cartridges
Based on the fact that filter cartridges must absorb the dust well and still be cleaned thoroughly and in an energy-saving manner, AGTOS opted for the conical shape of the cartridges. This allows the compressed air pulse to reach the inside of the dust-laden side walls more directly.
Compared to other filter cartridges, the filter surface is smaller. This is also for good reason. Because due to the special nature of the paper/polyester, more air is nevertheless sucked through per m².
In addition, the use of a rougher fold provides for better dust adhesion and cleaning because the dust is dislodged more easily by the compressed air impulse.
Environmentally friendly and cost-saving
Firstly, the conical shape of the filter cartridges alone results in a better yield of compressed air blasts compared to the smooth side walls of conventional filter cartridges. In addition, the internal volume of the cartridges is smaller than that of cylindrical cartridges. This increases the effectiveness of the compressed air blasts.
Another design advantage of the cartridges comes into play during disposal. The supporting metal body is reused. Only the paper or polyester casing is disposed of. Depending on the adhering dust, it can usually be incinerated or disposed of with normal commercial waste. Additional disposal costs are avoided.
Application requirements determine the material
Paper filter cartridges made from environmentally friendly, unbleached cellulose are used as standard. They are characterized by a good separation efficiency for fine dust and good cleanability.
Polyester fleece cartridges are used to collect fine dust and at high inflow velocities. They are also characterized by high stability and wet strength.
Advantages of the AGTOS filter units
Conical shape
The conical shape offers optimum air flow during cleaning. The compressed air blast can be set lower and the filter material is protected.
Wide-angle fold
During cleaning, dust dislodges more easily because of the filter cartridge’s wide-angle fold.
Dust collection containers
The filter system can be equipped with various dust collection containers. Variants include paper bags, metal buckets, big bags and dust containers.
Impact separator
A baffle box is integrated into the filter housing. It prevents coarse particles from damaging the filter cartridges.
Secondary filter
An integrated secondary filter achieves a residual dust content of < 1 mg. The exhaust air can therefore be blown back into the hall.
Filter cartridge
Depending on the application, cartridge filters are available in paper or polyester fabric.
Maintenance
Maintenance-friendly construction with large maintenance openings.
Quick release system
The cartridges can be changed in a very short time thanks to a quick-release fastener. The quick-release fastener ensures that the cartridges are always installed with the correct contact pressure and absolutely centered.
Inexpensive
Inexpensive spare parts.
Environmentally friendly
Environmentally friendly disposal through material separation and a low amount of waste.
